Brand new Bordeaux Blanc from Chateau de Fontenille in the Entre Deux Mers.
Not a fashionable areas in Bordeaux by any means but they have made a name from themselves over the years for producing decent white wines here. Soils are more alluivial than other parts of Bordeaux due to it being between the rivers of Garonne and Dordogne, but careful cropping ensures good quality fruit.
Chateau de Fontenille Blanc is a delicious wine, made up of the traditional blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. While it has a herbaceaous note on the nose showing its dollop of Sauvignon, there is more stone fruit and citrus going on due to the high proportion of Semillon. In the mouth its fuller bodied than the average Sauvignon with a lovely roundness and crisp finsh which makes for lovely drinking various style of food, including chicken, fish and asian.
Very good value, a wine that must be tried.
