Cline Lodi Zinfandel (California, USA)
A beautifully balanced Zinfandel from the Lodi region of California. Packed full of juicy blackberry and black cherry fruit with a touch of raspberry and a hint of black pepper on the finish. Ripe tannins balance well with moderate alcohol and vanilla notes leaving a wine which is surprisingly moreish and easy to drink. A perfect choice with burgers and grilled red meats.
Domaine Bessa Valley Enira (Bessa Valley, Bulgaria)
Made by Stephan von Nipperg of Canon La Gaffliere fame in Saint Emilion among others, this is essentially right bank Bordeaux made in Bulgaria and at about half the price the equivalent wine would fetch from the famous Bordeaux region. Fabulous value. On the palate this wine is the perfect balance of structured woody tannins and ripe harvested grapes which follow through to a lingering finish. A perfect choice with roast beef or lamb, or will work well with cheese.
D&J Vinhos Grand Arte Touriga Nacional (Douro Valley, Portugal)
Touriga Nacional would be regarded as one of, if not the best quality red grape variety in Portugal and is responsible for the Port wines of the Douro. Made in the Lisboa region this red has lots of sweet black fruit flavours, with a touch of herb and vanilla while it's silky smooth on the palate with ripe tannins and a fine balance. A versatile red which will work well with BBQ chicken, ratatouille or lamb chops.
Papagiannakos Savatiano Old Vines (Attica, Greece)
A Greek white from the Attica region, this wine has surprising freshness to it considering where it comes from. Unoaked and stainless steel fermentation leaves lots of lovely grapefruit, tangerine and nectarine flavours, with excellent balancing acidity. The freshness and fruit in this wine make it an ideal partner to fish dishes, salads, or white meats.
Bishofliche Weingut Trier DOM Off Dry RIesling (Mosel Valley, Germany)
Weingut Trier cultivate over 95 hectatres in some of the Mosel and Saar's best vineyards with over 90% of production being the Riesling Variety. The DOM Off Dry version is infinitely drinkable with a touch of residual sugar carrying the candied lemon peel beautifully with a mineral and very long finish. A lovely wine in the garden when the sun it out, or will work well with Asian spiced dishes or even Scallops.
Domane Wachau Gruner Veltliner Federspiel (Wachau, Austria)
Fresh, fruity and youthful. Classic Grüner with aromas of white pepper and grapefruit. From wine makers that concentrate on quality at all times you can be sure that's exactly what you will receive with this fine bottle of wine. A good match for the Austrian classic Wiener Schnitzel as well as seafood, poultry and salads.
