Antonin Rodet Bourgogne Chardonnay 2022 £22.57
Antonin Rodet Bourgogne ChardonnayAntonin Rodet has been rhyming with Mercurey since 1875, the year of the founding of the House, by Antoine Rodet, known as Antonin. His father, Francois was a grocer in Chalon-sur-Saone and a clever businessman and quickly added the trade of wine-broker to his various activities. Chalon-sur-Saone at this time was an important hub in the wine trade. The town, in the 19th Century, with the arrival of the railway and important river traffic, experienced an important economic boom. The young Antoine thus learned about business dealings at a young age. From generation to generation, although the Rodet family is no longer involved, the spirit of Antonin and his father lives on : fierce defenders of the vineyard of Southern Burgundy to which they dedicated their lives. This Bourgogne Chardonnay comes from the foothills vineyards with various soils depending from the geographical areas. The relief shape from the Côte Chalonnaise and the Mâconnais regions gives soils blended with lime, clay and marl, with granitic nuances at the very South of the Saône-et-Loire department. Fermentation took place in stainless-steel vats at controlled temperature (between 18 and 20°C) to preserve the fruit. Bottling after 6 months aging on lees in oak barrels (including 15% new oak). A touch gold in colour with light silver-grey tints. A very expressive nose with aromas of flowers and honey, while the palate shows good acidity, with acacia and lightly candied fruits aromas enhanced by a good length in the mouth. Enjoy with fish in creamy sauce, white meats, fine cheeses
