Bushmills 14 Year Old Malaga Cask Single Malt Irish Whiskey £58.50
BUSHMILLS 14 YEAR OLD MALAGA CASK SINGLE MALT IRISH WHISKEYBushmills 14 Year Old is one of the most innovative Irish single malts ever made bu Bushmills. Exclusively matured in first and second-fill bourbon barrels, aged for a minimum of 14 years, including a finish of up to 12 months in Malaga casks to give a luscious exotic fruit intensity and beautiful smoothness “Our Bushmills 14 year old whiskey complements the extra fruitiness exceptionally well. Not all whiskeys would stand up to it. But because we’ve only used bourbon casks, with none of the traditional dryness that comes with whiskey aged in sherry casks, the vanilla sweetness has really been allowed to shine. Then when we layer on the fruit intensity from the Malaga casks, it only enhances the sweetness – taking it to new heights. It really is phenomenal!” Bushmills 14 Year Old is finished in rare Malaga casks. This Spanish fortified wine, with an ABV of around 15-17%, is made from Muscat of Alexandria grapes which have been sun-dried to concentrate the natural sweetness. Alex chooses the exact wine blend she thinks will best fit the Bushmills flavour profile, putting it into the oak barrels for about four to five years to season the wood. The casks are then sent to the Old Bushmills Distillery in Northern Ireland just three days after they’ve been emptied, so they’re as fresh and fragrant as possible. This 14 year old whiskey is aged for a minimum of 14 years, including a finish of up to 12 months in Malaga casks. The intensity of the wine has a noticeable effect on the whiskey – giving it a distinct ruby red colour as well as a sensational array of exotic summer fruit notes and lots of warm wood spices. “This 14 Year Old is an incredibly exciting addition to our Bushmills family, completely unlike any other whiskey in our core range. It oozes sunshine and sweetness, layered with smooth and mouth-watering notes of mango, pineapple and ginger.” Alex Thomas TASTING NOTES - EXOTIC FRUIT, SWEET HONEY, WARM SPICE Colour: Golden chestnut Nose: Rich scents of sweet honey, vanilla and gentle mandarin orange married with warm spice.
