Critics Review
The nose- one of the cleanest fruit noses of any whiskey in the world and it needs to be: only then can you get a clear enough view and therefore a chance to see what the hell is going on. Grape notes come at you with different intensity in spice and sweetness; barley somehow makes the odd, firm guest appearance and there is a medium roast Java to the oak. But it is the grape which intrigues and entirely seduces...
The taste- silky, yet charismatic enough to confidently show you the spicier side of its personality early on; the grape ranges from burnt raisin to chocolate sultana.
The finish- remains juiced and spiced to the end with a rummy-styled bitterness to the sugars.
The balance- I manage to get around to tasting this, socially, twice a year top whack. But whenever I do, I find myself spending more time nosing this than drinking it. And this sample is absolutely no exception. It almost redefines complexity. But, please, dont forget to taste it. I mean, you can have only so much foreplay... there again, maybe not.
