![]() CASTILLO PERELADA EMPORDA CAVA RESERVA BRUT NVWine has been made at the Castillo Perelada since the Middle Ages, as shown in several documents and parchments from the period to be found in the library. When Miguel Mateu bought this ensemble of monuments in 1923, one of his primary objectives was to revitalize the wine producing tradition, a tradition that is more alive than ever these days and which has incorporated the most modern technology to create wines that make full use of the nuances of the soils and vines of the Empordà. The Empordà is a small area where there is a variety of soils found in few other places in the world. Slate slopes, sandy valley, fluvial sediments, clay-silt, gravel soils… This heterogeneity of soils allows Perelada to produce grapes which are very rich in complexity. With them, Perelada makes wines which are complex and full of character. Pale yellow colour. Good bubble detachment. Thanks to its ageing, it has developed a fine aroma with fruit hints. It's well-balanced structure, elegance and sensorial richness form an unmistakable personality. 86 Points from eRobertParker.com "The Non-Vintage Brut Reserva displays small bubbles, a yeasty, fruity nose, and a sense of elegance. It is a good value for drinking over the next 12-18 months. Castillo Perelada’s finest wines are their deluxe still wine cuvees from the DO of Emporda where their magnificent estate (a must for tourists) is located. However, they also produce very good Cavas in a variety of styles. Rose Cava is a wonderful match for Spain’s great hams and Castillo Perelada makes several."
