CAVE DE TURCKHEIM SABLES ET GALETS PINOT GRIS
These Herrenweg vineyards are based in the Fetch Valley, on limestone/sandy soils created during glacial shifts in the nearby Vosges mountains. Michel uses pneumatic pressing (of whole grapes), temperature controlled fermentation, no fining and light filtration before bottling - all to preserve fruit and aromatic qualities and elegance. His philosophy is to make wines with good acidity and fruit balance.
This wine is very expressive with violets, hints of acacia honey, quince, smokiness, sweet spices and crystallised ginger. The evolved palate opens dramatically with ginger notes and a lovely rich marmalade finish.
Match with smoked fish, chicken cooked in sauce, especially if with strong flavours such as in Thai or Chinese dishes. Great with Bresse Bleu.
