Chateau Chamirey Mercurey Blanc 2018 £30.54
![]() CHATEAU CHAMIREY MERCUREY BLANCThis white Mercurey is coming from 6 different plots accross the village. The diversity and tipicity of each plot reflect their richness in this white Mercurey. The soil is mainly composed in clay and limestone with a limestone predominance. To preserve their integrity, grapes are carefully harvested and sorted out by hand. Full clusters. Following the pneumatic press, juices stay in a vat overnight for a cool settling down and then are directly filled in barrels by gravity.Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in barrels. Aging process is taking place 100% in traditional Burgundian 228 litres barrels as well as 400 litres barrels during 11 months with around 15% of new barrels. We only use light toasted French oak coming mainly from Bourgogne, Allier and Vosges forests. In the glass this wine is a light gold colour. Well-balanced and floral nose with white fruits aromas as white peach. The palate is full and rich at the beginning. The wine is very tasty and nicely balanced.Lovely aftertaste. 87 2018 - 2020 William Kelley The Wine Advocate "Aromas of honeyed apples and peaches introduce the 2016 Mercurey Blanc, a medium to full-bodied, ample wine that's generous and textural but somewhat fresher and better balanced than its 2015 counterpart. The domaine notes that separate harvesting teams for whites and reds now permit them to make optimal picking decisions for both colors without any compromise, though I suspect the white premiers crus are the priority."
