Chateau La Croix St-Pierre Blaye Cotes De Bordeaux 2014 £16.95
Chateau La Croix St-Pierre Blaye Cotes De Bordeaux Overlooking the Gironde Estuary, the Blayais vineyard is made up of rich and diverse terroirs. Hilly landscapes are opposed by the almost marine horizon of the edges of the estuary that has punctuated the history of this land. The vineyardhas an area of 6,000 hectares which is cultivated mostly on the hillsides (hence the name Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux) and enjoys ideal sunshine conditions. To the west of the appellation (around the town of Blaye), the soils are mainly clay-limestone and allow the Merlot grape variety to reveal all its aromatic potential. To the north, the sand and gravel soils are ideal for the development of the subtle aromas of the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety. In the south-east of the appellation, a great diversity of soils allows each grape variety to express itself on the terroir best suited to reveal its full potential. Description Ruby color with an orangey-brown hue. Cherry jam, brandy with spicy notes on the nose. The mouth is light to medium-bodied with soft tannins, a clean expression of red fruits with a light toasted finish. Food Pairing Best with red meat; roast beef, lamb and cheeses. Grape variety(s) 70% Merlot - 20% Cabernet Sauvignon - 10% Malbec.
