Chateau Pierrousselle Le Cabernet Franc Bordeaux 2020
Originally from Spanish Navarre, Cabernet Franc is said to have reached the southwest of France thanks to the pilgrims returning from Santiago de Compostela. Today it is grown as far away as New Zealand and the United States. Its growth in Gironde dates back to the 1st century, which makes it the oldest grape variety cultivated in those lands.
Chateau Pierrouselle has crafted a delicious red from a variety we're very fond of but often gets overlooked unless it's in a well-known named village such as 'Saint-Emilion' when it's not often included on the label.
Expect ripe black fruit flavours with the characteristic leafy element the variety is famous for. Very enjoyable indeed.
88 Points - WineMag
An attractive, perfumed wine, this also has weight along with dense black fruits. There is a strong smoky character, boosted by solid tannins. Drink this wine from 2024.
