Delirium Tremens Belgian Strong Golden Ale 8.5% ABV
Brewing beer is an age-old tradition at the Appelhoek in Melle. The mammoth years of local beer art date back to the 17th century. From 1902 a certain Leon Huyghe sets his first footsteps in the local brewery. In the years that follow, Leon leads the brewery into modernity and in 1989 a proud pink elephant sees the light of day.
In 1925, Leon Huyghe received a family reinforcement from son Albert and son-in-law Louis and the brewery was officially renamed Brouwerij L. Huyghe. Today, the 4th generation Huyghe is stirring the brewing kettles with Alain De Laet. The elephant of yesteryear has become a large Belgian mastodon.
The allusion to pink elephants and the choice of names is not due to chance. With a particular character, the unique taste results from a triple fermentation and the use of three different yeast strains. Sweet, biscuit malt backbone, supported by pleasant warmth and spice, finishes well rounded, floral, and dry.
