Deutz Brut Classic Champagne NV From £25.92
Deutz Brut Classic Champagne NVChampagne Deutz, one of the founding members of the Assocation des Grand Marques was established in 1838 by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann. The house is based in Aÿ, the cru of oldest renown in the Champagne winegrowing region. Apart from extensive highly rated vineyards owned by the house itself, the present ownership, the Louis Roederer Group, is strengthening the company’s relations with vignerons in the best crus, ensuring that all of them constantly adhere to the viticultural practices that make a crucial contribution to the house style. Fabrice Rosset is the elegant PDG who oversees this lovely house and its sister house, Delas Frères in the Rhône Valley. Intense golden appearance topped worth a mousse of great finesse. Initially displays floral notes of hawthorn, blossom & white flower followed by aromas of toast, marzipan and ripe fruits of apples and pears. The freshness of the chardonnay and the richness of the Pinot Noir enhances the wines full-bodied elegance, presenting a wine with finely integrated aromas and a silky texture. Elegant with tiny persistent bubbles and a lovely mouth-filling freshness. 86 Stephan Reinhardt The Wine Advocate The NV Brut Classic (Lot LB117D00417 16 is based on vintage 2013 and includes 32% reserve wines) has a clear but rather simple bouquet that shows green walnut, salty licorice and ripe pear aromas. Fruity, quite sweet and round on the palate, with vineyard peach flavors, this is a mouthful of fruity yet rather loud Champagne. The Brut Classic blends 28% Chardonnay with 42% Pinot Noir and 30% Meunier and was aged on the lees in bottle for 30 months. My sample was disgorged on January 4, 2017, with a dosage of ten grams per liter.
