Domaine Jean-Noel Gagnard Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune Clos Bortier
Delightful glow a pale-yellow gold in the glass. On the nose, this wine has notes of soft floral, citrus fruits and hints of buttered toast. The palate is rich with flavours of peach, apricot and subtle mineral notes. It is pure and crisp with bright acidity and a good length on the finish.
The ‘Clos Bortier’ vineyard sits at an altitude of 428 metres above sea level and overlooks the village of Saint Aubin. The vines face southwest and are Guyot-trained. Fermentation using only wild yeast took place in a combination of stainless steel and oak barrels, of which 30% were new. The wine was aged for nine months before bottling. The wines are, in the best sense of the phrase, ‘low intervention’ wines, with each expressing the character of its site.
