DOMINO DE CAIR CUVEE LUCI & BEGONA RIBERA DEL DUERO
The name Cair is an amalgamation of the first two letters of two great friends’ surnames, Juan Luis Cañas and Juan José Iribecampos. After searching high and low for the perfect site they settled on the heights of Ribera del Duero, where in poor soils they found old, gnarly Tempranillo bush vines. Cair wines display the hallmark style of finesse and power, found in both Luis Canas and Bodegas Amaren in Rioja. Great balance between the fruit and the oak has seen these wines winning the IWC Ribera del Duero Trophy on occasion.
Beautifully packaged and beautifully made Ribera del Duero made using 85% Tempranillo and 15% merlto from vines aged between 20-25 years. Hand harvested fruit after fermentation spends 9 months in a combination of French and American oak and aged for 6 months in bottle prior to release,
A deep shade of ruby in the glass with a solid garnet edge. A particularly intense nose, with notes of blackberry, vanilla, tobacco, black olive, chocolate, leather and damp earth. The palate has a real richness with a meaty character, the flavours are of blackberry fruit, cake spice, tobacco and chocolate. The tannins are ripe with a sweet edge, this leads to a long lingering finish with typical Ribera acidity.
A perfect choice with grilled red meats, or sunday roast.
