The Glenallachie Master Blenders Selection Bourbon Single Cask 2012 Speyside Single Malt

Established in 1967, GlenAllachie remained relatively unknown until 2017, when it was acquired from Pernod Ricard by industry legend Billy Walker and his partners, Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson. Since then, the distillery has flourished under independent Scottish ownership, producing exceptional single malts that emphasise craftsmanship and quality. GlenAllachie’s commitment to traditional methods and innovation has solidified its reputation as one of Speyside’s hidden gems.

The GlenAllachie Master Blenders Selection Bourbon Single Cask 2012 is a distinguished single malt Scotch whisky that exemplifies the distillery’s dedication to craftsmanship and cask selection. This expression is part of GlenAllachie’s Master Blenders Selection, showcasing the influence of carefully chosen bourbon casks on the whisky’s character.

This whisky was distilled in 2012 and matured in a single bourbon cask, allowing the spirit to develop rich layers of vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak. The bourbon cask imparts a smooth and creamy texture, enhancing the natural sweetness of the whisky. Bottled at cask strength, this expression remains unfiltered and unaltered, preserving its full depth and complexity.

The nose presents aromas of honey, butterscotch, and toasted almonds, intertwined with hints of cinnamon and mocha. On the palate, waves of treacle, dried sultanas, and vanilla unfold, complemented by peppermint and honeycomb. The finish is long and warming, leaving lingering notes of oak spice and caramelised sugar.
