See more here Cline North Coast Viognier (California, USA)It’s thought the Romans took Viognier to the Rhône 1700 years ago yet incredibly, as recently as the 1980’s, there were thought to be only 32 ha planted in the entire world. Now, Viognier, with its full-bodied richness and gentle acidity is an international superstar again. Fred Cline specialises in growing Rhône cultivars and giving them a modern twist whilst maintaining their original character... and this one is a beauty! See more here Felino Malbec (Mendoza, Argentina)From vineyard sites in Luján de Cuyo, Maipu and Valle de Uco at altitudes of 2300 to 3835 feet above sea level. The diurnal temperature variations, long growing season and altitude give a tremendous purity of fruit. These sites are semi-desert and irrigation is essential. Yields are limited to around 1.33 to 4.68 tons per hectare. Fermentation is in 8 and 17-ton closed-top stainless steel tanks. There is a 2-3 day period of cold maceration and 14 days total maceration followed by a 3-month malolactic fermentation in barrel and a period of 9 months oak ageing in French and American Oak of which a small percentage is new. Violet red with black tones. An attractive nose with aromas of fresh black fruits and prunes. The palate displays good concentration, balance and sweet yet supple tannins. A beautiful accompaniment to any meal, but particularly well with hearty casseroles and red meat. See more here La Leyenda de Las Cruces Sauvignon Blanc (Leyda Valley, Chile)The town of Las Cruces takes its name from the memorial to a famous shipwreck in the 19th Century, and the relentless crashing waves of the Pacific are represented here on the label. The sea does not just bring destruction though, its influence reaches inland and up through the Leyda Valley - tempering the climate and minimising the risk of disease making this a near perfect place to grow grapes. See more here Burlesque Zinfandel (California, USA)Great value, fruit-packed Zinfandel whose soulful routine never disappoints. The grapes are selected from old vine Zinfandel vineyards in the Lodi region of central California. Vinified in stainless steel tanks and sees a little oak ageing. Aromas of vanilla, cracked black pepper and dark damson fruit. On the palate this wine is round and fleshy, beautifully balanced and packed full with robust red fruit flavours and a lick of oak. Great with a generous homemade burger or a spicy sausage casserole. See more here El Porvenir de Cafayate Amauta Absoluto Torrontes (La Salta, Argentina)El Porvenir de Cafayate is one of Salta's premium but very affordable, high altitude wine producers. This small, family-owned winery in Cafayate, specialises in Torrontes, Malbec, Tannat and red blends from 45-50-year-old vineyards which are amongst the highest in the world at 1900m asl and surrounded by 20ft, 200+-year-old monster cacti. The Colour in the reds here is profound due to the exposure to prolonged mountain sunlight, with soft tannins thanks in part to the extreme diurnal temperature differences... some mornings the cacti are thick with frost but within a few hours temperatures soar to the mid/high 20s! Bright and appealing with lovely fresh tropical fruit and citrus blossom notes. This is exotic stuff with lovely Eastern nuances of rose-petal, lemongrass and ginger. The palate is rich and aromatic, fresh and beautifully structured, with lovely rich ripe fruit and crisp acidity.
