Heartland Dolcetto Lagrein (Langhorne Creek, South Australia)

Grown on sandy loam soils in South Australias Langhorne Creek, this evenly split red of 50% Dolcetto and  50% Lagrein combines 2 classic Northern Italian varieties.  Dolcetto adds fruit and aromatics, while Lagrein adds depth and brightness. The result is a deliciously versatile red which can suit many cuisines including Italian, French and Asian and is regarded as an excellent example of Australia's experimental nature.  Fruity, savoury and well balanced yet with enough depth to keep the Aussie Shiraz brigade extremely happy. See more here

Cline North Coast Viognier (California,USA)

One of the stand out wines at a recent tasting, this Viognier and the entire Cline range to be honest offers serious bang for your buck.  From the North Coast area of California (Contra Costa/Sonoma Counties) where its slightly cooler and ideal for adding freshness to a variety which can sometimes lack it.  Expect lots of pure fruit flavours with peach and apricot evident along with a twist of ginger on a remarkably fresh finish.  A really lovely bottle of wine.   Try this with meaty fish dishes or it will be perfect with Asian spiced dishes, particularly Thai.  See more here

Chateau Coulon Corbieres (Languedoc, France)

The Fabre Family have been producing wine in one way or another for over four hundred years. In 1711 the family settled in Gasparets, near Narbonne in the Aude department of France. Louis Fabre is head of the family concern, having taken the reins in 1982. Since 1991, Famille Fabre has converted to Organic viticulture and today 100% of its vineyards are certified Organic.  Concentrated and spicy, this Corbières shows intriguing savoury and herbal aromas of bitters and thyme. The palate is full of morello cherry fruit and carries through more woody, savoury flavours to the finish. A delight!  Perfect with casseroles and meaty dishes. See more here

Lunaria Pecorino Civitas (Abruzzo, Italy)

Made using the Pecorino, a grape widely planted in central Italy, this example is grown organically and biodynamically with the utmost respect for nature, as the growers believe without nature they cannot produce quality wines, so the less intervention the better and truer the wine produced.  Fermented with indigenous yeasts it remains in tank for 30 days on lees to build complexity.  The result is an intense nose with hints of broom, white fruits while the palate is fresh, intense, fruity and full-bodied.  A good match with seafood dishes, medium cured cheese, pasta dishes, white meats. See more here

Martin Wassmer Spatburgunder Trocken (Baden, Germany)

Martin Wassmer is a leading producer in Germany's Baden region located in the Southwest of the country along the French and Swiss borders, where winemaking dates back hundred's of years.  With a particularly good reputation for quality Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir) this producer is one to watch out for and certainly one to try if you've never experienced their wines and you enjoy a glass of Burgundy.   Their premium wines can comfortably sit with some of the best in Burgundy with power and finesse, complexity and elegance.  From this expression, expect a light-bodied style with delicate floral, forest fruit aromas and soft tannins and well-balanced acidity.  A lovely wine by itself or will suit white meat dishes and meatier style fish. See more here

South African Sauvignon Blanc from the cool climate Elgin Vineyard area.  The vineyards are Iona perched on a mountain shelf That is 420m above sea level where grapes have a cool growing season, perfect for Sauvignon Blanc.   The wine is very refined, minerals are evident on the nose along with some citrus notes. The palate is crisp and precise. Lime flavors, orange zest and lemon.  Well composed and sophisticated Sauvignon Blanc more in the style of Sancerre than Marlborough.  See more here
