Chatelain Ramel Grande Cuvee Minervois (Languedoc, France)

Dominated by Carignan, this is a Minervois that will WOW the senses and really impress with its value for money.  The fruit for the Ramel Grand Cuvee was sourced from the Domaine de la Baquiere Estate, within the heart of the Languedoc Wine Region. From 23 hectares of vineyard on the slopes of the Montagne Noire Mountain range where the Ramel-Mazard family winemaking dates back to 1726, forming traditional methods of production, with the fruit harvested by hand and each grape variety vinified separately in stainless steel.   This is medium/full bodied with a bright ruby edge. Interesting and attractive nose, sweet blackberry, plum notes with a smoky, meaty complexity. Cherry notes too.  Medium weight palate with sweet blackberry fruit, mocha and cherry tones. Tannins are grippy but well balanced and the 14% alcohol is well integrated.  All around a very good bottle for the money.  Would suit Duck really well, or slow-cooked red meats stew style dishes.  See more here

La Leyenda de Las Cruces Sauvignon Blanc (Leyda Valley, Chile)

The town of Las Cruces takes its name from the memorial to a famous shipwreck in the 19th Century, and the relentless crashing waves of the Pacific are represented here on the label. The sea does not just bring destruction though, its influence reaches inland and up through the Leyda Valley - tempering the climate and minimising the risk of disease making this a near-perfect place to grow grapes. See more here

Baglio Gibellina Incanto Frappato (Puglia, Italy)

Baglio Gibellina is situated in picturesque Sicily where its vineyards are surrounded by the hills of Salemi and Santa Ninfa. Old vineyards located between 300-600m above sea level are grown on a mixture of clay and volcanic soils with limited yields allowing for the production of outstanding wines with incredible food matching potential. Ruby red colour lined with a purple tinge. The bouquet has a pleasant fresh fruit fragrance. Fresh red fruits and a fresh lively and soft palate. See more here

Spice Route Chenin Blanc (Swartland, South Africa)

This Chenin Blanc is from a vineyard planted in 1978 in the Swartland. The trellised vineyards are planted on a south-east facing slope and are dry farmed. The soils are predominantly koffieklip (decomposed granite and iron-rich clay) producing rich and concentrated wines. The dry conditions throughout harvest ensured there was very little disease pressure. These dry conditions also led to drought, resulting in a smaller-than-usual crop, but this meant greater concentration and flavour in the grapes.  This wine has a lovely, bright light yellow colour. The nose is complex with tropical fruits and peach followed by flinty notes. The palate is rich and broad, reminiscent of the koffieklip soils, with well-balanced acidity from the first picking. See more here

Cabriz Dao Branco (Dao, Portugal)

Cabriz tells a story that is born in Dão, in a trip through the heart of Portugal, through the lands, hills, and people, presenting a wide portfolio that seeks to fulfill all segments and moments of consumption but always following the same principle: to produce wines that have a great quality. In 1989, in the heart of the Dão wine region,  Dão Sul is born. Inspired in Quinta de Cabriz, a property with a magnificent manor house and a chapel of the XVII century, Dão Sul has become a reference of winemaking in the Dão. Of the vineyards surrounded by pine trees, the grapes produced in integrated production give way to wines with balanced acidity and delicate aromas.  Expect a wine with vibrant citrus notes of lime, lemon and grapefruit with well-balanced acidity and a fresh finish.  Perfect with fish, salads or by itself with friends. See more here
