Monte Schiavo Coste Del Molino Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico (Marches)

A classic, fresh style of Verdicchio with ripe peachy fruit from Monte Schiavo's Coste del Molino vineyard.  Stylish and concentrated Verdicchio with fresh intense aromas of grapefruit and lime, as well as honeyed stonefruit. The palate is fresh and fruity; very approachable, with apple, pear and ripe stone fruit. A mouth-filling minerality adds to the complexity and palate weight.  Perfect with seafood, salads or as an aperitif. See more here

Il Faggio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo​ (Abruzzo)

Il Faggio is made by Alana McGettigan at one of the region's best co-operatives in the northern part of the Abruzzi.  The aim is to capture in the bottle the power and intensity of the grape, together with a lift and freshness which is seldom found in wine from this region. The name, Il Faggio, derives from the fabulous beech trees which proliferate in this area, especially in the Abruzzo national park.   Deep ruby red in colour, with lifted perfumes of dark fruits, plums and cherries and a hint of mocha. This wine has soft, ripe tannins and a delicious chocolate-cherry finish.  Try with tomato-based dishes for a great match.  See more here

Vigneti del Vulture Pipoli Greco Fiano (Basilicata)

Valentino Sciotti (of Vesevo, Gran Sasso and other Farnese estates) took over this small co-operative in Basilicata in Acerenza in the heart of the Aglianico del Vulture zone in 2008. Consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini works with Manuel Barbone, and together they manage to capture the character of the grapes and the zone superbly in the bottle.  Pale lemon in colour, with perfumes of tropical fruit and a touch of vegetal notes. Rich yet fresh with a lime zest character, which comes from the Greco fruit, balancing the richness. Perfect with Asian inspired dishes including curries and Thai style dishes See more here

Cantina Diomede Lama Di Pietra Nero Di Troia (Puglia)

Cantina Diomede is part of the Farnese Group and is based in northern Puglia, close to the town of Canosa. It controls 200 hectares of vineyards. Consultant winemaker Filippo Baccalaro works closely with oenologists Massimo di Bari and Luca Pugliese to obtain high quality, healthy grapes. Most operations are carried out manually, and the management of the vineyard follows an organic approach.  This wine is ruby in colour with youthful, violet reflections. Red fruit aromas of mulberry and cherry give way to a soft palate with delicate tannins. Persistent, full-bodied and elegant, this Nero di Troia is perfectly balanced.  See more here

Corte Giara Pinot Grigio delle Venezie (Venezie)

The negociant arm of the Allegrini house, Corte Giara produces consistently excellent wines across the range. Bright straw yellow in the glass with light and delicate aromas showing lovely Pinot Grigio character.  Elegant floral notes are complemented by richer hints of Golden Delicious apples. This wine with its dry, racy palate and good depth and definition is a sure-fire winner.  Great with fish or salad dishes. See more here

Poggiotondo Organic Chianti (Tuscany)

The Poggiotondo estate is situated in the hills to the northwest of Empoli in western Tuscany. These hills are south and southwest facing and are planted primarily with Sangiovese.  The organically grown fruit was hand-harvested, crushed and transferred to concrete tanks where it underwent a spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. A proportion of the wine was then racked to large French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and remained there and matured for eight months. Deep garnet red in colour. On the nose, dried oregano aromas mix with dark and red cherries. Ripe cherries on the palate are balanced with grainy tannins, typical of traditional Chianti, with vibrant, fresh acidity on the finish.  Great with tomato ragu and rare beef.  See more here
