Consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini works with Manuel Barbone, and together they manage to capture the character of the grapes and the zone superbly in the bottle. Pale lemon in colour, with perfumes of tropical fruit and a touch of vegetal notes. Rich yet fresh with a lime zest character, which comes from the Greco fruit, balancing the richness. Perfect with Asian inspired dishes including curries and Thai style dishes. See more here Toscolo Chianti Classico (Tuscany, Italy)Founded in 1988 by Neil and Maria Empson, Toscolo was a labour of love for the Empsons who wanted to express their longtime passion for the Chianti region. They called on friend and world-renowned winemaker, Franco Bernabei to help style the wines, combining fruit and finesse. Neil and Maria Empson have always had a passion for the Chianti region in Tuscany. In 1988, they decided to act on that passion and founded their own winery, Toscolo, to make Chianti. Even the winery’s name is a homage to Tuscany; Toscolo is an old Italian Renaissance word for “Tuscan Boy.” The Chianti Classico is a full ruby colour with garnet hues; an ample, classic bouquet of berry fruit, violets, iris and vanilla, followed by chewy, abundant fruit, a silky texture, good body, balance and extract. A very food-friendly red that can be enjoyed both with pasta, risotto and first courses, and with meat-based dishes. The wine gets its name from the town of Gavi, situated in the southeast of Piemonte. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged briefly on its fine lees. It shows white flower and green fruit aromas, with a touch of honey and minerality on the palate. See more here Baglio Gibellina U. Passimiento IGT (Sicily)Baglio Gibellina is situated in picturesque Sicily where its vineyards are surrounded by the hills of Salemi and Santa Ninfa. The Frappato grapes are harvested as soon as they reach maturation, and so that all the typical freshness remains in the must is fermented slowly in small steel tanks. The Nero d’Avola grapes are left on the vines for a light withering and for natural dehydration to occur. They are late harvested and with extreme care placed in wooden cases. After a soft pressing the musts are fermented at a controlled temperature. The two musts evolve according to their typical features and then are slowly blended. The natural sweetness of the wines is obtained by interrupting the fermentation through the “cold” process. The wine is then matured for some months in steel tanks. Bright intense red fruit on the nose displaying lots of red berries. The palate is warm and full-bodied with harmonious acidity and smooth and elegant tannins. See more here Biscardo UVAM Pinot Grigio delle Venezie (Venezie)The grapes are hand-harvested and then placed in wooden cases - this is usually done at dawn or late in the evening to avoid the intense heat of the day. Clusters picked during fresh hours remain intact meaning that there is no risk of fermentation starting during transport. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, they are pressed immediately and the must is then fermented in controlled temperature stainless steel tanks. An ambrosial nose of wonderful floral aromas, on the palate there’s an abundance of tropical fruit, melon, guava and peach supported by zippy acidity making it mouth-tinglingly moreish. A light refreshing wine for any occasion. Great for sipping and enjoying or pair with light fish dishes.
