Hand Picked Seasonal Collection Winter Case - 12 Bottles £174.00
Includes two of each of the following (4 of each if selecting All red or All white): (If a wine is unavailable we will replace it with an equivalent or superior substitute) The Jumper Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough, New Zealand) The Jumper Sauvignon Blanc is made by Hunters, one of the oldest wineries in Marlborough, and offers up all that we love about the variety and the region. Packed full of Gooseberry, kiwi, passionfruit and asparagus flavours, these are wines which are hard not to like. Enjoy it as an aperitif or pair it with grilled vegetables, shellfish and tempura. Boutinot Macon Villages Reserve Personnelle Chardonnay (Burgundy, France) The Mâcon-Villages Réserve Personnelle is a special blend of Chardonnay, sourced from three different vineyards. During vinification, the must is cooled to ensure a slow fermentation in stainless steel which allows the development of rich, smooth flavours without the use of oak. Malolactic fermentation is partially blocked in one of the component parts to retain a level of bright acidity needed to create balance and poise in the final blend. Once selected, the blend is aged for two months prior to bottling to allow for full integration of the elements to create a harmonious whole. Blending in this way, using the same variety from different plots, and adjusting the vinification of each parcel allows the creation of a hand-crafted, personalised wine with greater complexity and finesse than would be possible working with just one element. A typically southern Burgundian Chardonnay; pure green apple fruit is framed in appealing acidity; flavours are upfront and full with a hint of hazelnut on the mid-palate. This wine shows elegance, finesse and style. Try with grilled or baked white fish, chicken risotto or grilled herb-flavoured Mediterranean vegetable dishes. Produttori di Manduria Zin Fiano (Puglia, Italy) In the heel of Italy, Manduria is considered the birthplace of the native Primitivo grape and was officially recognised as such in the 1970s when a DOC was created for the region. However, Produttori di Manduria had been making wines for 40 years by then, unashamedly proud of their deep affection for Primitivo. As well as making high-quality examples of Puglia's most famous vinous export, the co-operative is well versed in producing fascinating whites from Fiano and Verdeca. Picked from 20-year-old espalier-trained vines in mid-September, the vines yield around 90 quintals per hectare. Temperature-controlled fermentation at 18° C and aged in stainless steel vats. Intense and complex sweet apple and pear perfume with some soft orange flora. Dry, well-structured and a palate that reflects the delicious aroma. Try with fish and shellfish, it also goes well with chicken, pork and veal. Baglio Gibellina U. Passimiento (Sicily, Italy) Baglio Gibellina is situated in picturesque Sicily where its vineyards are surrounded by the hills of Salemi and Santa Ninfa. Old vineyards located between 300-600m above sea level are grown on a mixture of clay and volcanic soils with limited yields allowing for the production of outstanding wines with incredible food-matching potential. The Frappato grapes are harvested as soon as they reach maturation, and so that all the typical freshness remains in the must is fermented slowly in small steel tanks. The Nero d’Avola grapes are left on the vines for a light withering and for natural dehydration to occur. They are late harvested and with extreme care placed in wooden cases. After a soft pressing the musts are fermented at a controlled temperature. The two musts evolve according to their typical features and then are slowly blended. The natural sweetness of the wines is obtained by interrupting the fermentation through the “cold” process. The wine is then matured for some months in steel tanks. Bright intense red fruit on the nose displaying lots of red berries, the palate is warm and full-bodied with harmonious acidity and smooth and elegant tannins. A lovely glass with a wood-fired Pizza, or medium-rare seared beef served with oven-roasted tomoatoes. Perelada 5 Finques Reserva (Emporda, Spain) The 5 vineyards that this wine comes from are situated around 40-150m above sea level, with an average age of 21 years. Conventional viticulture and double royal training system, the soil consists of slate slopes, sandy plains and gravel. This diversity of the soils allows them to harvest grapes with an enormous range of aroma and flavour nuances and to produce complex wines full of character. A traditional red wine making with a long maceration and a controlled fermentation at 25ºC. 16 months in Bordeaux barrels, 50% fine American oak and 50% Allier French oak. Matured in bottle for at least 2 years before release. Deep cherry red colour. Its aroma is reminiscent of red fruits and spices, with some balsamic notes and a toasted background. In the mouth it is fresh, well structured and balanced. Its tannins are plentiful but really well integrated. This is a wine with a great personality and a long finish. Try with both young and mature red meats, cheeses and even chocolate! Vina Cobos Felino Mendoza Malbec (Mendoza, Argentina) From vineyard sites in Luján de Cuyo, Maipu and Valle de Uco at altitudes of 2300 to 3835 feet above sea level. The diurnal temperature variations, long growing season and altitude give a tremendous purity of fruit. These sites are semi-desert and irrigation is essential. Yields are limited to around 1.33 to 4.68 tons per hectare. Fermentation is in 8 and 17-ton closed-top stainless steel tanks. There is a 2-3 day period of cold maceration and 14 days total maceration followed by a 3-month malolactic fermentation in barrel and a period of 9 months oak ageing in French and American Oak of which a small percentage is new. Violet red with black tones. An attractive nose with aromas of fresh black fruits and prunes. The palate displays good concentration, balance and sweet yet supple tannins. A beautiful accompaniment to any meal, but particularly well with hearty casseroles and red meat. Now Available On Subscription!
