Il Faggio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo (Abruzzi, Italy)

Il Faggio is made by Alana McGettigan at one of the region's best co-operatives in the northern part of the Abruzzi.  The aim is to capture in the bottle the power and intensity of the grape, together with a lift and freshness which is seldom found in wine from this region. The name, Il Faggio, derives from the fabulous beech trees which proliferate in this area, especially in the Abruzzo national park.  A deep ruby red in colour, with lifted perfumes of dark fruits, plums and cherries and a hint of mocha. This wine has soft, ripe tannins and a delicious chocolate-cherry finish. Try with tomato based dishes for a great match.  We tried this with cod in a tomato and soy stew and it was delicious!  Who said red wine doesn't go with fish! See more here

Biscardo Rosapasso Pinot Nero (Veneto, Italy)

The Biscardo Family have been making wine from their base in Soave for over 150 years and are currently led by brothers Maurizio and Martino. During the course of Maurizio's long and illustrious career, he has consulted for well known wineries around Italy and in doing so he came across the vineyards for their Puglian wines. Both the Pugliese and Veneto wines are characterised by an almost dangerous drinkability, aromatic purity and exceptional value for money.  The grapes are gently pressed, so the must extracted is pure free-run juice. It follows the cryomaceration that is processed before the fermentation, in this way the primary aromas are extracted easier and more efficiently, directly from the internal part of the skin. Thanks to this process the main aromas obtained are well defined, delicate and fruity. The fermentation is done in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Finally, the ageing continues for few months in stainless steel tanks while the wine refines on its own yeasts. A brilliant rosé colour, the bouquet of elegant wild strawberry and cherry lead onto the smooth and harmonic palate. Excellent with fish, cheese and lightly flavoured risotto's and pasta.  See more here

3 Wooly Sheep Sauvignon Blanc (Marlbourugh, New Zealand)

This classy white is made by the Lawsons Family Vineyards, a byword for quality New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc for nearly 20 years.  It's fun labelling has created a bit of a cult following for itself, but with the quality of the wine its not surprisingly to see so many repeat buys.  Chock full of lime fruit, elderflower, and grapefruit this white is great on its own or with try with salads, moules marinere and most other seafoods. See more here

El Coto Garnacha Crianza (Rioja, Spain)

El Coto was founded in 1970 in Rioja Alavesa and has grown from modest beginnings into one of the best known Rioja producers. Today El Coto has over 700 hectares of vineyard in production across the three Rioja DOCa sub-zones of Rioja Alta, Rioja Baja and Rioja Alavesa.  All the grapes for this wine are sourced from the Finca Los Almendros Estate on stony and clay based soils. The vines are spur-pruned and trained in the vertical shoot position. Cover crops are planted to promote biodiversity in the vineyard and control vine growth.  Ruby red in colour, this vibrant Garnacha displays aromas of fresh red cherry, plum and blackberry with hints of mocha and sweet spice. Juicy and well balanced with a long finish.  Great with white meat dishes or lighter style red meat dishes and stir frys See more here

Domaine de Montredon Picpoul de Pinet (Languedoc, France)

KWM is perched at the Mouth of Carlingford Lough, a placed famed for the quality of its oysters. It should come as no surprise therefore that we are constantly on the look out for good Picpoul De Pinet, the ultimate wine to accompany oysters. Montredon offers aromas of green apple, citrus, pear and pear-drop. A crisp and refreshing palate with pear, green apple and a salty hint to the mineral laden finish.. See more here

Heartland Spice Trader Shiraz Cabernet (Langhorne Creek, Australia)

The Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon are fermented separately with specific parcels included for their ability to offer greater complexity and character. Time in barrel permits a softening of the wine’s structure. It also offers a complex expression of the fruit and helps the exotic notes of spice to be discovered. This is an intense glass of juicy and delicious red. A burst of dark primary fruit hits the palate with a compote of blueberries, blackberries and currants. These powerful fruit notes can engulf the uninitiated, but waves of spice, fresh spearmint and dried herbs can be discovered by seasoned flavour explorers. See more here
