Langmeils flagship red wine is made from Shiraz vines dating back to 1843 and are considered some of, if not the oldest vines still remaining in Australia.

The resulting wines offer lots of complexity, elegance and intrigue from what is not a stereo-typical blockbuster Barossa Shiraz.

James Halliday: 95 Points

Believed to be planted in 1843, the gnarled ancestor vines of the Freedom vineyard are one of the treasures of the Barossa. When it comes to these ancient vines, it's often an exercise in texture and fruit density, but there is grace here; there's also a distinct meaty facet that peaks the interest. The fruit is pure and weighty, but not at the expense of detail. Ripe, rich, red and dark fruits abound, the tannin is silky-fine and provides a framework. The finish flows nicely, flush with pure fruit, spice and earthen tones.
