Mendieta Osaba Wines is a small production, family-owned winery located at the skirts of the Sierra Cantabria, more precisely, Lanciego in the heart of the much sought-after Rioja Alavesa terroir.  The Mendieta Osaba family has been passionately growing grapes on its family's historic vineyards for generations. Juantxu Mendieta, a.k.a. "Mendi" by his friends and family in his pueblo, produces quality, handcrafted wines that are limited in production and a true reflection of this very special terroir.

Vascomendi by Mendieta Osaba is their top wine made of 100% Tempranillo from a single vineyard site and is aged 9 months in French and American oak barrels (225 & 400 L).

Dark cherry red colour.  Bursting with plush, luxurious flavours of ripe red fruit and blackberries followed by deeply organic oak, spicy, vanilla and cocoa nuances as well as balsam accents on the nose.  The palate is elegant, with a nice balance and followed by a long finish. This is a wine which can drink now or will reward cellaring for several years to come
