Below is a little bit of information about each of these Irish Whiskeys which if you haven't tried your missing out.

When it comes to whiskey, Ireland makes some of the best in the world and recently Irish whiskies, both blended and single malts, have been enjoying resurgence among the growing ranks of dark spirit fans. One major reason is that they are usually triple distilled, while most Scotch is double distilled, making them smoother and easier to drink.

You should know the most obvious choices such as Bushmills or Jameson but you may not know some of the these options below.

Green Spot-Leoville Barton

Distilled in Midleton in County Cork.
This is a Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey.
It is initially matured in a mix of ex-Oloroso sherry and ex-bourbon barrels before spending between 12-24 months in ex-Bordeaux wine casks imparting distinctive floral and ripe berry tones.
Vanilla sweetness works in harmony with the pot still spices and the dry wine influence creating a complex yet satisfying whiskey.



Midleton Very Rare 2016

Distilled in Midleton in County Cork.
Exclusively matured in American oak barrels, this whiskey is only available in strictly limited quantitiies as just a small number of casks are personally selected by the Master Distiller, Brian Nation, It is robustly malty on the nose with hints of marmalade followed by waxy fruits, Christmas spices and lingering vanilla on the palate.



Redbreast - Lustau Edition

Distilled in Midleton in County Cork.
Initially matured in a combination of American and European oak casks for 9-12 years, then transferred over to first fill Oloroso Sherry casks from Bodegas Lustau for a year. Aromas of toasted almond, dark fruits, marzipan and liquorice followed by a nice creamy mouthfeel and Redbreast spices balance with milk chocolate and honey notes lingering on the finish.



Teeling - Single Grain Irish Whiskey

Distilled in County Dublin.
Single Grain Irish Whiskey.
The Teeling Whiskey Company call themselves "The Spirit of Dublin". This whiskey is fresh and vibrant, youthful and exciting, much like the city itself. It is fully matured in Californian red wine barrels resulting in an intensely fruity and beautifully amber liquid, with lush berry notes and dry finish dominated by wood and spice.



The Quiet Man 8 Year Old

Distilled in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland
Named after a bartender (John Mulgrew) in Belfast who heard and seen a lot but told no tales.
The Quiet Man 8 Year Old is triple distilled in traditional Irish whiskey pot stills and matured in oak bourbon casks. Sweet and crisp floral aromas with notes of vanilla and oak. Hints of honey, warm vanilla and spicy oak fill the palate with an exceptionally smooth finish.



Glendalough - 7 Year old single Malt Irish Whiskey

Distilled in County Wicklow
Small batch single malt crafted in traditional copper pot still, then aged in bourbon casks for 7 years. The nose is rich and sweet with a touch of cinnamon, orange zest, vanilla and floral notes. Palate is silky velvety smooth with returning orange zest, vanilla and floral notes. Palate is silky velvety smooth with returning orange zest tones, rich creme brulee and dark chocolate. White pepper and sweeter tones marry on the finish. A perfect sipping whiskey.
