Rickety Bridge Pinotage 2019
Situated 3km from the renowned village of Franschhoek, the food and wine capital of South Africa, the Rickety Bridge Wine Estate nestles against the hillside overlooking vineyards and the majestic Wemmershoek Mountains. It is an excellent base for exploring South Africa’s Winelands while being close to the magnificent Cape beaches and the lively Mother City.
Vineyards were identified in the Franschhoek and Breedekloof regions. Well-manicured and settled vines yielding a low 8 tons/ha. Grapes were harvested in early February at 24.5˚ Balling into small crates with good harvesting conditions throughout.
Fermentation took place in an open fermentation tank at 24˚C with two to three punch-downs daily. Malolactic fermentation took place in 100% stainless steel tanks. The total maturation time in the barrel was twelve months.
Red fruit-forward with black and blueberry flavours in the background while the light oaking accentuates flavours of red currants and blueberries. A velvety palate with well-integrated tannins which are supported by subtle smokiness leading into a lingering juicy finish.
