Tenuta Valdipiatta Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Located at the heart of the Vino Nobile zone, Tenuta Valdipiatta was founded in 1973 and then purchased at the end of the 1980s by Giulio Caporali. In 2002, he handed over the management of the estate and winery to his daughter Miriam, who brought in top Bordeaux oenologist, Eric Boissenot in 2010.
Spring recorded temperatures above the seasonal average with abundant rainfall. Budburst started a week earlier than normal, but then slowed down due to the numerous temperature changes. Veraison began a week late but had a linear and homogeneous ripening trend. The second half of August was characterized by high temperatures, interspersed with various storms accompanied by some isolated hailstorms. The drier September allowed to manage the harvest in an optimal way, making it possible to extend the harvesting operation over the entire month and to be able to wait and reach the right relationship between technological and phenolic maturity.
The wine has an intense ruby red colour. It offers notes of black cherry, violets and roses, dark and sweet spices, tobacco and black pepper. On the palate it is solid and deep, full bodied, with velvety tannins. The finish is long, balanced and rich.
