De Martino Nuevo Mundo Carmenere
Since De Martino settled in Isla de Maipo in the prestigious Maipo Valley in 1934, The family has specialized in producing wines that are notable for their sense of place, purity and balance. Nuevo Mundo pays tribute to this beautiful corner of Chile and our exceptional vineyard, which has become their home. They have carefully farmed the vines under organic principles so that the wines truly represent the terroir and its varieties.
Isla de Maipo has a tradition of producing great wines. Its unique location, equidistant between the Andes Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean, defines our terroir. It is located on the bed of a former branch of the River Maipo and this has given them perfect soil for growing Bordeaux varieties.
The climate is the temperate Mediterranean with sea breezes that cool the vineyard and generate morning fog during the warmest months. This allows the grapes to ripen while developing moderate potential alcohol levels and retaining fresh acidity.
The terroir is alluvial based with an abundance of gravel.
Purity and drinkability are essential in this range, defined by an approachable style that portrays their Isla de Maipo vineyard. Whites are aged in stainless steel and reds in a combination of concrete and used neutral barrels.
